Las Vegas School Bus Crash Kills One

School BusLast Thursday, May 4, 2017, a school bus was carrying 48 students to Bailey Middle School when the children heard honking and then began to feel the bus flipping over. The bus had slammed into a car, veered through a fence, and finally toppled over in a vacant lot. According to one child, he saw the bus enter the intersection on a green light before the collision. While, at first, official investigators were unsure about the cause of the accident, it has since been established that the driver of the passenger car ran a red light.

The collision killed the driver of the passenger car, a 70-year-old owner of the Ford Taurus involved in the crash. Additionally, 14 children received moderate injuries, but one 10-year-old girl who was a passenger in the Ford had been severely injured and was in critical condition the next day. The bus driver was also taken to the hospital but sustained minor injuries.
